Quality Assurance

Quality starts with understanding the requirement.

For engineered components, quality cannot depend only on final inspection. The process begins with understanding the drawing, material, tolerances, finish and functional requirements and selecting an appropriate manufacturing route and supplier.

Quality Stage 1

Drawing Verification

Before production, relevant requirements are reviewed, including:

  • Drawing revision
  • Dimensions
  • Tolerances
  • Material
  • Surface finish
  • Threads
  • Welding requirements
  • Critical dimensions
  • Special notes
Quality Stage 2

Material Verification

Where required, material information and supporting documentation can be checked against the customer requirement.

Quality Stage 3

Dimensional Inspection

Depending on the component, inspection may include:

  • Vernier calipers
  • Micrometers
  • Gauges
  • Other appropriate measuring equipment

The inspection method should be appropriate to the drawing requirements.

Quality Stage 4

Visual Inspection

Components can be checked for visible issues including:

  • Surface defects
  • Damage
  • Burrs
  • Weld appearance
  • Coating / finish issues
  • Packaging damage

The exact checks depend on the component.

Quality Stage 5

Quantity Verification

Quantities are checked against the purchase requirement before dispatch where applicable.

Quality Stage 6

Surface Finish Verification

Where required, finishing processes such as plating, coating or other surface treatments can be checked against the specified requirement.

Quality Stage 7

Final Verification

Before dispatch, relevant requirements can be reviewed including:

  • Quantity
  • Dimensions
  • Finish
  • Packaging
  • Documentation

Quality Statement

Our objective is to reduce avoidable manufacturing and communication issues by addressing quality requirements before production, during coordination and before dispatch.
